A broad API management platform with usage pricing and hybrid deployment.

Google Apigee is Google Cloud’s API management platform for organizations that need to build, secure, publish, monitor, and analyze APIs. It brings API proxy development and deployment together with traffic management, access policies, developer portals, API products, monetization, analytics, API Hub, and near real-time monitoring. The platform is available as a fully managed Google Cloud service, with Apigee hybrid supporting runtime deployment in a customer-managed Kubernetes cluster on-premises or in another cloud. It suits API programs that need more than proxying alone, particularly when publishing, cataloging, and operating APIs are part of the same workflow.
Pricing is usage-scaled. Pay-as-you-go Standard API Proxy pricing is $20 per 1M API calls up to 50M calls, $16 per 1M calls from 50M–500M calls, and $13 per 1M API calls above 500M calls. Extensible API Proxy pricing is $100, $80, and $64 per 1M API calls across those same usage bands. The Base environment costs $365 per region per month and includes Standard API Proxy, API Monitoring, and API Hub capabilities. The Intermediate environment costs $1,460 per region per month and adds support for Standard or Extensible API proxies, API products, and portals. A 60-day no-cost evaluation is available.
The strongest fit is an organization that needs a broad API operating model spanning lifecycle automation, developer access, analytics, products, and deployment across environments. Its RESTful API supports lifecycle automation, while built-in and custom analytics dashboards provide operational visibility. Buyers should account for the separate environment charge alongside usage pricing, and for the higher rates attached to Extensible API Proxy calls. Teams seeking only a basic API proxy may not need the wider platform, while programs requiring portals, cataloging, monetization, monitoring, or hybrid deployment have a clearer reason to choose Apigee.
