Golang FTP Server review
A lightweight, open-source FTP gateway for developers who want flexible storage backends.

Golang FTP Server is an open-source, self-hosted FTP server for developers who need a lightweight gateway between FTP clients and local or cloud-backed filesystems. It supports uploads, downloads, directory listing, deletion, renaming, resumable transfers, passive and active connections, and TLS through AUTH and PROT. The project provides binaries for Linux, macOS, and Windows, along with Docker and Docker Compose deployment options. Per-access credentials and read-only configuration provide a straightforward way to control access for different users or connections.
Its strongest differentiator is storage flexibility. In addition to local disk, documented backends include Amazon S3, Dropbox, Google Drive, SFTP, email, and Telegram. This lets an FTP interface sit in front of several storage or transfer destinations without changing the client-facing workflow. FTP exchange and file-access logging add visibility into activity, while TLS and resume support address common transfer requirements. The SFTP option is a filesystem backend for the server; it is not an inbound SFTP server protocol.
Golang FTP Server fits teams that prefer open-source, self-hosted infrastructure and need core FTP or FTPS capabilities without a broader commercial server-management suite. Docker support can suit containerized environments, while native binaries cover the major desktop and server operating systems listed by the project. It is less suitable for organizations seeking a full administrative platform, extensive management controls, or an inbound SFTP service. Choose it when flexible backends, source availability, and focused FTP functionality matter most; consider another product when advanced server administration or broader protocol coverage is the priority.
