  • Where it wins

    • Configurable retry windows, delays, filters, and attempt counts
    • API control and dashboard visibility for recovery workflows

Our verdict on GoCardless Success+

GoCardless Success+ is a payment intelligence and automation product for organisations collecting recurring bank payments. It targets businesses managing subscriptions, instalment schedules, and other recurring collections where failed payments can contribute to involuntary churn. The product automatically retries eligible failed payments and uses machine learning to select retry dates intended to improve the chance of successful collection. It is available through the GoCardless dashboard and API, with per-payment controls for deciding whether a retry should be attempted.

Its strongest fit is operational control across direct-debit payment schemes. Success+ supports ACH, AutoGiro, BACS, BECS, BECS_NZ, PAD, and SEPA, alongside integrations with Xero, Chargebee, Salesforce, and Zuora. Teams can configure retry counts, retry windows, retry delays, and failure filters, while API users can use retry_if_possible for payment-, instalment-, or subscription-level control. The dashboard provides visibility into recovered and pending payments, giving finance and billing teams a way to monitor recovery activity without limiting the workflow to a fixed retry schedule.

Pricing is transaction-based rather than a standalone Success+ subscription. The Advanced plan includes Success+ intelligent retries and Verified Mandates. The Pro plan includes the Advanced benefits and Protect+ fraud protection. Custom payment pages and email notifications are available as an add-on. Success+ is included in the US Advanced and Pro GoCardless tiers, with regional availability and pricing varying by market. Choose it when recurring bank-payment recovery, retry automation, and API-level control are central requirements. Businesses seeking a broader dunning platform with more extensive workflow features may prefer an alternative.
