Go Jet review
Schema-generated Go code makes typed SQL composition practical without turning Jet into an ORM.

Go Jet is an open-source Go library for building type-safe SQL queries and mapping results, aimed at developers who want typed query composition without adopting an ORM. It generates builder code and Go data-model types from database schemas, including types for tables, views, and enums. Developers can compose SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and WITH statements, then retrieve parameterized SQL and its arguments or execute queries through Go database/sql-compatible drivers. The project is self-hosted software, not a hosted database service.
Its main distinction is the schema-driven workflow: generated Go types inform query construction, while query compilation returns SQL and arguments without executing anything. Results can be mapped into arbitrary destination structures. Raw SQL expressions provide an escape hatch for functions, operators, or expressions the builder does not support. Jet documents PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite as supported dialects; CockroachDB and MariaDB are tested compatible databases. That scope is relevant when choosing a builder: teams working with the documented dialects can use the typed workflow, while teams requiring another SQL dialect should consider a tool with explicit support for it.
Jet is free and open source, with documentation as its specified support channel. It fits solo developers through enterprise teams that prefer a Go library they can incorporate and operate themselves. The trade-off is that code generation from a schema is part of the workflow, rather than composing queries directly in a hosted visual interface. Choose Jet if schema-generated types, parameterized SQL, and Go driver execution match your approach; look elsewhere if you need a hosted query-building service or do not want generated code in your development process.
Go Jet pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Generates typed query builders and Go models from database schemas
- Supports SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and WITH statements
- Returns parameterized SQL and arguments, or executes through compatible drivers
- Where it doesn't
- Requires generating code from a database schema before composing queries
- Dialect support centers on PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite
- Raw SQL expressions may be needed for unsupported functions or operators
