GO Feature Flag review
A self-hosted, file-based flag system for infrastructure-focused teams.

GO Feature Flag is an open-source, self-hosted feature flag management system for software teams that want control over configuration and deployment. It stores flags in YAML, JSON, or TOML files and evaluates them through OpenFeature SDKs and providers. Its feature set covers targeting rules based on evaluation-context attributes, percentage rollouts, progressive rollouts, scheduled rollouts, and experimentation or A/B testing rollouts. Infrastructure teams are the clearest fit, particularly when avoiding a vendor-managed backend, database requirement, per-seat billing, or proprietary SDK lock-in matters.
The Opensource plan costs $0 USD forever and includes access to all features, use in your own infrastructure, unlimited feature flags, and community support only. The Enterprise plan adds premium support, an SLA on CVE fixes, direct communication with maintainers, integration help, and training material. This creates a straightforward choice: the Opensource plan suits teams able to operate the system and rely on community support, while Enterprise is aimed at organizations that need maintainer access, support services, or training alongside the same core product.
GO Feature Flag also fits a broad infrastructure ecosystem. Configuration can connect through HTTP(S), the file system, Kubernetes ConfigMap, AWS S3, MinIO, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, and AWS Kinesis. Evaluation-data exporters and configuration-change notifiers extend its operational workflow, while flag sets allow separate configurations, API keys, retrievers, exporters, and notifiers. Teams wanting self-hosted control and flexible backends should consider it; teams seeking a vendor-managed service or support beyond the Opensource plan should look to the Enterprise offering.
