Gittyup is a free, open-source graphical Git client for viewing and managing repository history. It is aimed at developers who want a visual workspace for browsing commits, reviewing diffs, staging changes, resolving conflicts, and working across multiple repositories. Support for Windows, macOS, and Linux makes it suitable for teams with mixed desktop environments, while repository tabs and branch-focused views help organize concurrent work.

There is one free plan, with no paid tier structure to compare. The published feature set includes commit history, graphical repository timelines, diff viewing, staging and unstaging, blame views, commit amending, commit-message templates, tags, and repository tabs. Gittyup also supports GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, and SSH authentication, including credential-storage options. Git submodule initialization after cloning, submodule support, and Git LFS support broaden its fit for repositories with more than standard Git objects, although Git LFS availability may vary by distribution package.

Its strongest focus is visual repository understanding and precise change selection. Single-line and partial-hunk staging provide more control than staging only whole files, while blame and file history connect individual lines to their commits. Rebase, merge, and binary conflict resolution are included, but interactive rebase is not directly supported, which may matter to users who regularly edit or reorder commit sequences through that workflow. Choose Gittyup if you want a free desktop client centered on history, staging, and conflict handling across major operating systems. Choose another Git GUI if interactive rebase is essential to your daily process.
