Our verdict on GIPHY Create

GIPHY Create is a free GIF creation tool for individuals and social-content creators who want to turn videos, images, existing GIFs, or online media into shareable animations. It runs on the web, iOS, and Android. Users can upload JPG, PNG, GIF, MP4, MOV, and WebM files, import media from URLs including YouTube links, or record and select camera-roll media on mobile. The editing workflow covers captions, stickers, trimming, cropping, animation layers, filters, and loop effects, with results uploaded to GIPHY.

Its strongest fit is lightweight content creation with a social-sharing focus. The GIPHY sticker library gives users a direct way to decorate GIFs, while captions can be added and repositioned. Crop options include original, portrait, landscape, and custom dimensions, which helps adapt source media to different formats. Mobile users also get recording, camera-roll imports, filters, and loop modes in the same creation flow, making the product particularly suited to quick edits made from a phone.

The main constraint is duration: the maximum supported GIF length is 15 seconds. Desktop uploads must be under 100 MB and shorter than 15 seconds, so the tool is better for short reactions, clips, and social posts than for longer animated content. Choose GIPHY Create if you want a free editor with broad media input, URL imports, stickers, and mobile creation tools. Choose another option if you need longer GIFs, larger desktop uploads, or the same filter and loop controls on every platform.
