G DATA Antivirus is consumer security software for Windows PCs, aimed at people who want malware scanning and additional protection for email, web activity and removable devices. Its feature set includes virus scanning, email and attachment scanning, exploit protection, browser protection for online banking and shopping, automatic updates, and protection against manipulated USB devices. It supports Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 7 SP1, and requires an internet connection for installation and updates. For Mac owners, the central limitation is decisive: Mac is not a supported platform.

The published annual plans are organized by device count. The 1-device plan costs $29.95 per device per year, while the 3-device plan costs $39.95 per 3 devices per year and the 5-device plan costs $49.95 per 5 devices per year. Each plan lists Windows protection, a virus scanner, email scanning and exploit protection. There is no free plan, but a 30-day free trial is available. The software also includes automatic virus-signature and software updates, update scheduling and management, and artificial-intelligence and behavioral malware detection.

Its strongest fit is a Windows household or individual seeking core antivirus coverage with browser, email, exploit and USB protections. The 3-device and 5-device options extend the same listed feature set across more devices without introducing separate plan tiers. However, the product is not appropriate for anyone whose primary requirement is Mac antivirus protection. It also does not include ransomware protection, parental controls or a password manager in the listed comparison. Mac buyers should select a product with explicit Mac support, while Windows users can consider G DATA Antivirus for its focused antivirus feature set and annual device-based licensing.
