Our verdict on ftrack Review
ftrack Review is a browser-based review and approval product for creative teams working in animation, VFX, post-production, and creative services. It supports video clips, images, and PDFs, with review links for clients or colleagues. Reviewers can add frame-accurate annotations, time-stamped comments, approvals, and version feedback. External clients can join reviews without counting toward paid seats, making it suitable for projects that involve outside stakeholders as well as internal teams.
The published plans show a Review tier at $10 per user per month with annual billing or $15 with monthly billing. Both include interactive media review, review management, unlimited projects, unlimited reviews, and 250GB of storage, with the first seven days free. Studio costs $25 per user per month annually or $30 monthly, adding planning, scheduling and tracking, project reports, and the ftrack API; its first 14 days are free. Enterprise includes everything in Studio, plus a dedicated account manager, optional self-hosting, an additional staging server, a customized SLA, and single sign-on. Review Pro is separately priced.
Its strongest fit is detailed, collaborative review rather than general project management. Side-by-side and transparency-overlay comparisons, ghosting annotations across frames, synchronized video review, playlists, and version management help teams evaluate changes precisely. PDF summaries can include screenshots and feedback, while integrations are listed for Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Teams that need planning and tracking alongside review should consider Studio, while teams seeking a free plan or a non-browser workflow should look elsewhere. For creative groups that want a dedicated review layer with approval workflows and guest participation, Review offers a clear paid entry point.
