FortiADC is Fortinet’s application delivery controller for distributing and securing traffic across on-premises, virtual, hybrid, and public-cloud environments. It is aimed primarily at enterprise application infrastructure teams that need more than basic traffic distribution. The platform combines Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing with global server load balancing, SSL/TLS offloading and inspection, content-based routing, rewriting, health checks, and persistence policies. Deployment options include hardware appliances, virtual machines, public-cloud instances, BYOL, PAYG, and yearly VM subscriptions.

Security is a central part of the product rather than an add-on. FortiADC includes a web application firewall with adaptive learning and OWASP Top 10 protection, application authentication, agentless application access, and traffic scripting. It also connects with Fortinet Security Fabric tools such as FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSIEM, and FortiGSLB. FortiAI-Assist supports configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization, giving teams an additional way to work with the platform’s administration and traffic-management functions.

Its ecosystem supports AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, IBM Cloud, Kubernetes, OpenShift, SAP, Splunk, Terraform, and Ansible. That breadth suits organizations coordinating applications across multiple clouds, regions, and infrastructure tools. FortiADC is not a managed service, so teams should plan around their own deployment and operations responsibilities. Pricing uses a contact-sales model, with licensing and deployment choices spanning hardware, virtual, and cloud environments. Choose FortiADC when integrated security, global traffic management, and enterprise deployment flexibility matter; a simpler deployment may not need its wider feature set.
