ForkLift review
A capable Mac file manager for local, remote, cloud, and Git-based workflows.

ForkLift is a macOS file manager and file-transfer client built for people who manage local files alongside remote servers, cloud storage, and network shares. Its dual-pane layout supports copying and organizing across locations, while tabs, previews, search, filtering, archives, tags, and workspaces support more structured file work. Mac power users get a broad toolkit, and small businesses can install the software on up to five office Macs through the Small Business plans.
The strongest case for ForkLift is its breadth of file operations and connections. It supports FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Rackspace Cloudfiles, SMB, AFP, NFS, and iCloud. Folder synchronization can run one way or two ways, and remote files can be edited with automatic upload. Batch renaming includes replacement, dates, numbering, and regular expressions. Git status and add, commit, push, and pull operations are also included, along with file comparison through external comparison tools.
Pricing uses one-time lifetime licenses with either one or two years of included updates. Single user plans cost $19.95 for one year of updates or $34.95 for two years, for personal use on one Mac. Family plans cost $29.95 or $49.95 and cover all Macs in a household. Small Business plans cost $69.95 or $119.95 and allow installation on up to five office Macs. ForkLift suits Mac users who need more control than basic file browsing provides, especially when remote services and synchronization matter. Teams requiring Windows support, or buyers seeking a free plan, should choose an alternative.
