Our verdict on Fokus Launcher
Fokus Launcher replaces the Android home screen with a simpler layout for people who want less clutter and quick access to apps. Its home screen can show a clock, date, battery status, optional weather, favorites, and a shortcut rail. The app drawer adds app search and user-defined categories, while Dot search can find web and in-app content. It targets Android 8.0 and newer, and is best suited to solo users who value open-source software, search, and privacy controls over extensive home-screen styling.
Search and app access are the clearest strengths. Users can customize home apps and shortcut targets, hide or rename apps, and launch app actions with a long press. The drawer supports work-profile apps, and Android 15 Private Space controls include a separate private-app section. Optional accessibility-based controls provide double-tap-to-lock and return-home behavior. Optional weather uses Open-Meteo. These features make Fokus a focused choice for users who want practical app discovery and separation of private or work apps, rather than a broad customization toolkit.
Fokus is open source and has a free plan, so its core appeal does not depend on a paid tier. The trade-off is limited visual customization and backup depth, making it less suitable for people who want extensive icon styling or more developed backup options. Support is community-based, which may be a drawback for users who need direct assistance. Pick Fokus for a minimal, search-led Android experience with privacy controls; consider another launcher if deep visual customization or backup capability is a priority.
