FocusReader is a Chrome browser extension for turning web articles, blog posts, news stories, and documentation into a cleaner reading view. It is aimed at Chrome users who want fewer distractions while reading online, with automatic removal of ads, popups, and other clutter. The free product includes reader mode, light and dark themes, three font styles, reading-progress tracking, keyboard shortcuts, and a reading list.

Its strongest area is reading customization. FocusReader lets readers adjust fonts, text size, line height, and content width, so the same article can be presented in a more comfortable format. Saved articles can be read offline, and the extension tracks progress and resume position. Keyboard shortcuts also support readers who prefer navigation without repeatedly reaching for the mouse. These features make it useful for focused, repeat reading of web content rather than quick browsing between pages.

The main limitation is scope: FocusReader is an article reader, not a full RSS feed reader or aggregation platform. Its reading list holds up to 10 saved articles, which keeps the product suited to a small, active queue rather than a large content library. Planned additions include AI summaries, text-to-speech, smart highlights, cloud sync, and exports. Pick FocusReader if a Chrome-based reading view and offline saved articles are the priority; choose a full RSS platform if feed discovery, aggregation, and broader content management matter more.
