Our verdict on FLEX SCADA

FLEX SCADA combines low-power telemetry hardware with monitoring software for remote installations. It is aimed at teams operating telecommunications, oil and gas, seismic, water, mining and renewable-energy sites. Q-series devices collect sensor measurements, control relays and communicate through open protocols, while the software provides dashboards, historical logging, alarms, device management and an API. Deployment can use the hosted cloud service or a free Docker package on Linux servers, with web, Linux and API access.

The FC1, FC2 and FC3 plans separate data-capture speed and retention. FC1 has a minimum data-logging interval of 1 minute and stores data for 5 years. FC2 reduces the interval to 10 seconds and stores data for 10 years, while FC3 reaches a 1-second interval with 10 years of storage. Across the platform, cloud dashboards present graphs, gauges, maps and tables; alarm levels and notification groups support alerting; and historical data can be backfilled after connection loss. Bulk device management, remote configuration and programmable on-device scripts extend control beyond basic visualization.

Protocol coverage is suited to mixed field environments, including SNMP, MQTT, HTTP JSON, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, CAN bus and RS-485. The API supports connections to other software, and relay and load-switch control handles remote actuation. Self-hosting gives Linux-based teams a deployment option separate from hosted monitoring, while the cloud model is organized around per-device plans. FLEX SCADA fits small and mid-market operators that need remote sensing, control and long-lived history without assembling separate dashboard, alarm and historian tools. Teams seeking a broader general-purpose SCADA suite or workflows outside remote-site telemetry should compare alternatives.
