Our verdict on FiveDraft
FiveDraft is a web-based screenplay studio for independent filmmakers and screenwriters who want industry-standard formatting alongside practical production tools. The editor supports screenplay formatting, scene navigation, drag-and-drop scene ordering, PDF import into editable Fountain and FDX blocks, and mobile and on-set editing. It also includes multi-voice table reads, cloud syncing, read-only screenplay sharing, version snapshots, and cinematic themes. Its focus is screenplay work rather than general-purpose writing or collaborative document editing.
The pricing structure gives writers several ways to control costs. Free Draft costs €0 forever and includes the full screenplay editor, no page limits, scene navigation and a board, PDF, FDX, and Fountain import, unlimited local drafts, and one script saved to the cloud. Production Pass costs €9 per script and adds watermark-free PDF export, pro exports in FDX, Fountain, and Fade In, production breakdown and statistics, native table-read TTS playback, and lifetime access to that script’s exports. Pro Studio costs €5 per month or €39 per year, adding unlimited cloud scripts, watermark-free PDF exports, pro exports, version history, the Gemini AI analysis suite, and all cinematic themes. A €59 lifetime Founding Member option includes Pro Studio features forever, plus direct founder feedback and early access to new features.
FiveDraft’s standout breadth is its combination of writing, production, and review features in one screenplay-focused workspace. Gemini-powered tools support loglines, character breakdowns, and prop lists, while multi-voice playback can support table-read workflows. Export coverage suits writers moving between PDF, Final Draft, Fountain, and Fade In formats. Writers who need affordable screenplay editing across desktop and mobile should find the feature mix compelling. Teams requiring full collaborative editing should look elsewhere, since sharing is read-only, while writers seeking broad AI rewriting capabilities may prefer a tool built specifically around that workflow.
