Our verdict on Fiume Comp
Fiume Comp is a browser-based backing track tool for musicians who want accompaniment tailored to a practice exercise. Guitarists, horn players, pianists, bassists, singers and other players can enter a chord progression, choose an accompaniment style, set a tempo and play along. Its free-beta positioning suits solo musicians and small groups looking for a practice aid rather than a full production environment. The focus is on building and repeating a playable exercise from the harmony a musician supplies.
The practice controls are more detailed than a simple chord loop. Progressions can use common chord symbols and multi-chord bars; forms can be 4, 8, 12 or 16 bars, with looping for either the whole form or a selected section. An in-browser mixer adjusts track volumes and sounds. Songs can be named and saved with chord and mixer settings in the browser, and users can add lyrics, cues or arrangement notes. These controls make Comp a fit for rehearsing a specific progression or sketching an arrangement, especially when form and repetition matter. It does not provide AI generation, so musicians should choose another tool if they want the accompaniment or musical ideas generated for them.
The main tradeoff is its browser-centered scope. Saved songs currently stay in the browser, and the product does not offer export; that limits portability and makes it less suited to workflows that need to carry tracks into other software or share finished files. No mobile app is indicated, so it is best approached as a web practice tool. Choose Fiume Comp for free, customizable accompaniment and focused repetition at a computer; look elsewhere if you need AI-created backing tracks, mobile access or exported audio.
