Firebird Maestro review
A broad Firebird desktop toolkit for teams that prefer visual database administration.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Firebird Maestro is a Windows desktop application for managing, administering, and developing Firebird databases. It is aimed at database developers, DBAs, and data analysts who want visual tools for database objects, schema design, SQL work, privileges, data movement, reporting, and server maintenance. The vendor states that it supports Firebird server versions up to 5.0 and can connect to Firebird servers running under any operating system.
The published pricing uses one-time licenses rather than subscriptions. The Single non-commercial license costs $99 for non-commercial use, while the Single business license costs $179 for business use. Both single licenses apply to one computer and one user at a time. For organization-wide deployment, the Site non-commercial license costs $599 and the Site business license costs $999; each allows unlimited installations and users within one organization. A fully functional 30-day trial is available, but there is no free plan.
Its feature coverage is broad within the Firebird ecosystem: database-object management, a visual designer with reverse engineering, a SQL editor with syntax highlighting and code completion, a visual query builder, user and role management, data import and export, BLOB viewing and editing, SQL dumps, reporting, backup and restore, and server shutdown or bring-online operations. That focus suits teams standardized on Firebird that want a visual Windows workflow. Organizations needing one tool for several database engines, or a browser-based and cross-platform administration experience, should consider an alternative.
