Ferro Backup System review
A mixed-OS backup suite with bare-metal recovery and centralized administration.

Ferro Backup System is a client-server backup and recovery product for businesses and institutions. It protects files, folders, disks, operating systems, databases, mail files and virtual machines from network-connected workstations, laptops and servers. Support for Windows, Linux and macOS makes it suited to mixed-OS teams, while bare-metal operating-system recovery gives administrators a path to restoring complete systems rather than individual files alone. The product is installed in the customer’s infrastructure and is available for workstations, servers and virtual machines.
The package structure covers three paid tiers plus a Free evaluation with the full version of the program. Standard costs €112 per package annually and includes 5 FBS Worker modules, 1 FBS Server module, disk images, full operating-system recovery, file and directory backup and recovery, and open and locked file backup. Professional costs €156.8 per package and adds higher performance, tape-device support and GPO client installation. Enterprise costs €179.2 per package and adds the highest performance level and dual-administrator control. The package-based model is straightforward, but the €112 entry price makes adoption a larger upfront commitment than lower-cost alternatives.
Its strongest fit is for organizations that need broad backup coverage and centralized control across mixed operating systems. Backup replication can target NAS, FTP, tape, optical and cloud storage, with integrations for VMware ESX/ESXi/vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, NAS/SAN, FTP servers, tape devices and libraries, Syslog, GPO and Outlook PST files. Client-side encryption, workstation compression, automated background tasks and ransomware protection extend the operational scope beyond basic file backup. Teams wanting bare-metal recovery, multiple backup methods and on-premises control should shortlist it; organizations seeking a continuing free plan or a lighter, lower-commitment endpoint tool should look elsewhere.
