FarmBooks is desktop accounting software for farmers and ranchers who need more than basic income and expense tracking. It brings accounts registers, check writing, payroll, accounts payable, vendor management, invoicing, accounts receivable, bank account management, and CSV transaction import into one local application. The scope also reaches farm-specific work, including inventory, livestock event records, assets, liabilities, loans, multiple farms, enterprise allocation, and farm reporting. It is suited to operations that want detailed records and reporting on a desktop rather than a primarily browser-based system.

Pricing is structured around a one-time installation fee. Single Farm costs $595 and includes 1 year of license and maintenance. A Second Farm costs $250 as an additional farm, while a Third or more Farm(s) costs $150 per additional farm. Yearly maintenance costs $100 per year and includes program updates, support, and tax tables. The trial uses a demonstration farm database; after 30 transactions, a registration key is required to create a new farm database. This arrangement may appeal to farms that prefer a defined purchase price, while farms budgeting for recurring software access should include annual maintenance in their planning.
