Fabric review
A focused Unity middleware option with broad interactive-audio features and low-cost entry tiers.

Fabric extends Unity's audio functionality for game developers and audio designers building interactive sound behaviors. Its feature set covers event-driven playback, runtime parameters, hierarchical asset organization, music, dialogue, timelines, sequences, switches, blends and sample playback. Teams working in Unity can use it to coordinate sound, music and dialogue from editor tools designed for event assignment, sequencing, profiling and asset management.
Pricing is organized by project budget. The Indie License costs $0 for projects with a budget under $250k and includes all Unity platforms plus standard support. The Small License costs $500 for projects with a budget between $250k and $500k, with the same platform coverage and support. The Large License costs $1,500 for projects with a budget over $500k and includes standard support, while a multiple-license discount is optional. This makes the entry tiers suitable for smaller Unity projects, while larger productions should account for the higher license cost.
Fabric's strongest fit is interactive audio inside Unity: runtime parameters support graph mapping and modulation, event controls cover volume and pitch, and tempo-synchronized transitions support interactive music. Audio buses, side-chain processing, dynamic mixing, custom and Unity DSP effects, dialogue localization and Fabric prefab asset loading add production depth. Integrations listed for Heavy and Dolby Audio may support broader audio workflows. Teams using another engine should choose an alternative, while Unity teams wanting a concentrated middleware layer for sound, music and dialogue have a clear fit.
