7.5/10Editor score

Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026

ezW2 is Windows desktop software from Halfpricesoft for preparing and printing W-2 and W-3 forms, as well as 1099-NEC and 1096 forms. It suits small employers, nonprofits and tax professionals who want a focused way to produce payroll tax forms, including paper copies and recipient PDFs in eligible versions. The product supports manual entry and CSV import, and its plans include unlimited companies and employees. Data is stored locally, with backup and restore options, so it fits organizations that prefer desktop software over a cloud-based workflow.

Pricing separates paper printing from electronic filing. The Paper Form Version, Single User costs $49 per year and includes bulk printing. The E-File Version, Single User costs $99 per year and adds PDF printing, data import/export, self-filing and an in-app e-filing service. The Paper Form + E-File Network Version is $119 per year and adds multi-user network data sharing alongside e-file and PDF capabilities. A 30-day free trial is available, but trial printing carries a watermark and e-filing and file import/export are disabled. The in-app e-file service also carries an additional per-form fee; alternatively, users can self-file with an SSA account.

Filing coverage includes W-2/W-3 submissions to the SSA and state W-2/W-3 forms for listed states. ezW2 also prepares 1099-NEC and 1096 forms, but W-2 corrections are outside its scope and require the separate ezW2Correction product. Employee delivery is limited to printed or PDF forms. QuickBooks, ezPaycheck and ezAccounting are listed integrations. Choose ezW2 if Windows desktop operation, bulk printing and local data storage suit your process; look elsewhere if you need corrections in the same product or electronic delivery to employees.
