Our verdict on Evidian Authentication Manager

Evidian Authentication Manager is enterprise authentication software for securing Windows workstations and servers. It replaces or supplements Windows passwords with smart cards, security tokens, RFID badges, biometrics, QR codes, one-time passwords, mobile phones, and other supported factors. Its strongest fit is for organizations managing shared PCs, kiosk environments, Windows endpoints, and users who move between workstations.

The product's central strength is policy and access administration across Windows environments. Administrators can create group-based authentication profiles, manage smart-card lifecycles, audit computer access attempts, and review authentication and administration events through reporting dashboards. It also supports two-factor and multi-factor Windows authentication, passwordless authentication, self-service password reset, emergency access, cluster authentication across multiple PCs, roaming sessions, and workstation switching. These capabilities make it more specialized for controlled workstation access than for a broad collection of unrelated application integrations.

Evidian Authentication Manager connects with LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, Citrix XenApp, Microsoft Windows Terminal Server, Evidian Enterprise SSO, and IGEL thin clients. Its application integration methods include a Windows authentication extension, LDAP and Active Directory connections, Enterprise SSO integration, Citrix XenApp, Terminal Server, and IGEL thin-client integration. Deployment is self-hosted, and commercial evaluation is handled through demonstrations, a free trial, and vendor quotes. Choose it when centralized Windows policies, smart-card administration, kiosk access, or shared-workstation controls are priorities. Organizations seeking a wider integration footprint beyond these Windows and directory-centered environments should consider an alternative.
