EventSentry File Monitoring review
A focused Windows monitor with strong detection and reporting, priced for paid deployments.

EventSentry File Monitoring tracks changes to critical system and user files on Windows hosts. It is intended for IT administrators, security teams, small businesses, government organizations, and enterprise environments that need on-premises monitoring and historical review. The feature covers Windows Server and Workstation monitoring, with support spanning older Windows releases through Windows 11, Server 2022, and Server 2025. A web platform is also listed alongside Windows support.
Its strongest area is detection depth. The product identifies file additions and removals, size changes, SHA-256 checksum changes, transaction-log tampering, and NTFS alternate data stream changes. It can write changes to the Windows event log for alerting and consolidate activity in the EventSentry database for historical review. Reporting extends beyond change events to file attributes including digital certificates, entropy, version, size, hashes, and stream information. PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server support the database side, while SMTP email, Syslog, and SNMP provide notification and system-management integration options.
Pricing is straightforward but suited to organizations with a defined Windows estate. The Full License costs $85 per Windows device and includes a perpetual license, Windows Server or Workstation monitoring, and one year of maintenance. A 30-day trial is available. The product is a good fit when detailed Windows file-change evidence, centralized history, and multiple alerting paths matter more than broad platform coverage or agentless deployment. Organizations needing monitoring across non-Windows hosts should choose a platform with wider operating-system support instead.
