Our verdict on Eventide Octavox

Eventide Octavox is a pitch-shifting audio plug-in for creating harmonies and pitch-based sequences from vocals, guitars, synthesizers, drums, and other incoming sound. It is aimed at producers, musicians, engineers, and remixers who want to shape multiple pitches from a source rather than use an AI harmony generator. Up to eight diatonic voices can follow a selected key and scale, with timing intervals set for the sound being processed. Octavox runs on Windows and macOS and is a fit for solo creators through mid-market teams that work with audio plug-ins.

Its main strength is the combination of pitch placement and performance control. A notation grid lets users place pitches over time, while MIDI control includes a Gated MIDI mode for real-time input. Key and scale can be locked across preset changes, and users can save and automate up to 32 snapshots. Each voice has panning, delay, detune, and feedback controls; the randomize function adds micro-pitch variation. More than 70 presets offer starting points, and pitch-tracking can be turned off for polyphonic and rhythmic material.
