Our verdict on ETCHlo

ETCHlo pairs a basic Android drawing canvas with AI sketch-to-art transformations. It is aimed at doodlers and casual artists who want to draw a starting image, choose a visual style and see a generated result. Canvas tools include brushes, fill, an eraser, color palettes, zoom and undo, with stylus support. Daily Challenge offers drawing ideas, while drafts can be saved and managed. The app is a better fit for experimentation than for people seeking a dedicated, full-featured illustration workspace.

The main distinction is the transformation workflow: users can choose among styles such as comic book, pixel art and storybook art, then compare the original sketch with the generated result. Finished images can be saved to the device, and before-and-after creations can be shared. This makes ETCHlo useful when the goal is to explore how a rough drawing might look in a different visual treatment. Its drawing tools support making the sketch, but the product's emphasis is on the AI result rather than depth in drawing controls.

ETCHlo is free to download, with ad-supported Mini morphs and optional HD morph tokens purchased through Google Play; published pricing does not specify token prices. Google sign-in is optional for syncing purchased HD token balances across devices, and Google rewarded ads are part of the app's ecosystem. Choose ETCHlo if AI transformations and guided drawing prompts are the appeal, and if ads or optional token purchases fit your preferences. For drawing work where the canvas itself is the priority, a more drawing-focused app is likely a better match.
