Our verdict on ESET Mobile Security for Android
ESET Mobile Security for Android protects smartphones and tablets against malware, ransomware, spyware, phishing, smishing, and other mobile threats. It is designed for Android users who want core antivirus protection at no cost, with optional tools for payment security, anti-theft protection, app access control, and call filtering. The free plan includes antivirus protection, 24/7 scanning, a security report with an activity log, and a USB On-The-Go scanner. Real-time scanning covers apps and files, while antivirus and antispyware protection address common mobile threats.
The paid Premium plan costs CAD 12.99 per device per year with annual billing. It adds payment protection for financial apps, proactive anti-theft with remote locking and location tracking, App Lock using a PIN or fingerprint, anti-phishing protection, call filtering, and scheduled scanning. Premium features are available through a 30-day trial before a subscription is required. This tier is most relevant to users who want more than malware scanning, particularly those who value safeguards around financial apps or want recovery tools if a device is lost.
ESET Mobile Security for Android works with Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore, and ESET HOME, and the product is distributed through Google Play and Amazon Appstore. Its main trade-off is platform and device scope: it supports Android and the listed pricing covers one device. That makes it a focused choice for protecting an Android phone or tablet, rather than a broader security solution for households or mixed-device environments. Choose it for Android-specific protection with anti-theft features; consider an alternative if you need coverage beyond Android or across multiple devices.
