ErdDocs review
A low-cost browser tool for turning relational schemas into diagrams and documentation.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
ErdDocs is a browser-based database documentation tool for developers, consultants, auditors, and teams documenting existing relational schemas. Users paste SQL dumps, ORM models, migrations, or supported diagram formats to generate interactive ER diagrams and printable data dictionaries. Documentation can cover tables, columns, types, defaults, indexes, keys, relationships, and descriptions. Parsing runs locally in the browser, with no account, installation, database connection, or schema upload required.
The free plan provides up to 25 tables, an interactive canvas, and exports to PNG, SVG, Mermaid, DBML, PlantUML, and SQL DDL. It also includes a three-table data dictionary preview and requires no account or card. The $9 Lifetime license adds support for any schema size, a complete data dictionary, unbranded exports, and an offline browser license key. The paid license includes a 14-day refund policy, while prices exclude VAT and sales tax where applicable.
ErdDocs stands out for broad schema input support and local processing. It reads SQL, Prisma, DBML, Mermaid, PlantUML, Django, SQLAlchemy, Sequelize, TypeORM, and Laravel inputs, and can recover relationships from column naming when foreign keys are absent. Data dictionaries can be printed to PDF, which suits lightweight documentation and review workflows. It is a good fit for individuals who need inexpensive, private schema diagrams and documentation; teams needing history, lineage, integrations, or broader collaboration capabilities should choose a more expansive platform.
