Equinix Fabric is a software-defined interconnection service for organizations connecting distributed infrastructure, cloud providers, business partners, Network Edge devices, and assets in Equinix data centers. It supports private connections across local, regional, and global locations, making it suited to teams managing multicloud environments, metro-to-metro links, and connections between cloud and colocation resources. Provisioning and connection management are available through the Equinix Customer Portal, REST API, and Terraform.

Pricing follows a contact-sales model. The published commercial structure includes monthly charges for ports, virtual connections, and Fabric Cloud Routers, with estimates available through the Customer Portal. A seven-day free trial applies to Fabric Cloud Router and up to two Fabric virtual connections through AWS Marketplace. The service does not present a simple self-serve plan comparison; its fit is stronger for organizations evaluating connectivity requirements across several sites, providers, or cloud environments.

Its ecosystem is a central strength. Equinix Fabric connects with Alibaba Cloud, AWS Direct Connect, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Salesforce, Cisco, Colt, Lumen, NTT Data, Verizon, Five9, and Unitas Global. Port, virtual connection, event, and metric monitoring help teams oversee network activity, while redundant connections and diverse-route architecture support resilient designs. Fabric Cloud Router adds Layer 3 connectivity between clouds and Equinix assets. Choose Equinix Fabric for broad private interconnection and infrastructure-as-code workflows; choose another option if VPN management or firewall policy management is essential.
