enum DNS review
A free, API-first authoritative DNS service for developers and production teams.

enum DNS is a managed authoritative DNS service for developers and teams running production workloads. It hosts DNS zones on European infrastructure and supports records including A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, and other types. Zone administration is handled through its public API and enumctl CLI, while BIND zone-file import and export support helps teams move existing configurations. DNS-01 TLS certificate issuance, including wildcard certificates, is also available for hosted domains.
The published Free forever plan keeps the cost structure straightforward: authoritative DNS, DNSSEC, API and enumctl management, and BIND zone-file import and export are included without query pricing or per-zone fees. DNSSEC signing produces DS records for registrars, giving teams a defined path for securing hosted zones. The API-first design fits developers who prefer automation and command-line workflows over a browser-based control panel.
The main trade-off is scope. enum DNS focuses on authoritative hosting and programmatic management, but it does not include web access, verified health checks, traffic steering, or secondary DNS. It is currently limited to early-access users, with DNS GA listed on the roadmap for Q4 2026. Choose enum DNS if free, European-hosted DNS with DNSSEC, automation, and certificate issuance matches your workflow. Teams needing traffic management, health-based routing, secondary DNS, or web-based administration should choose a service built around those capabilities instead.
