EndianOS is a Linux-based operating system for Endian security gateways in business and industrial environments. Its UTM edition combines firewall protection, intrusion prevention, antivirus, VPN connectivity, and web-based administration. The 4i edition adds industrial network protection, protocol filtering, and secure remote access for OT and ICS environments. It can run on dedicated hardware, virtual machines, or in the cloud, making it a fit for teams managing specialized IT or operational technology gateways.

The feature depth is strongest where network control and industrial connectivity overlap. EndianOS supports time-based and Geo-IP firewall rules, deep-packet inspection, application-based outgoing rules, network segmentation, and zone isolation. VPN coverage includes IPsec and OpenVPN for site-to-site and remote access, plus Layer 2 VPN support for SCADA and legacy protocols. High availability clustering and WAN failover address continuity needs, while web-based administration and centralized access to Endian appliances support multi-appliance operations.

EndianOS uses a contact-sales pricing model, and its UTM and 4i variants align the product with different business and industrial deployments. That approach suits organizations that need a tailored gateway platform rather than a simple standalone firewall purchase. The main trade-off is platform scope: Linux is the stated platform, and the product's broad security and OT capabilities may be more than a small team needs for basic perimeter filtering. Choose EndianOS when application control, segmentation, industrial protocols, VPNs, or centralized appliance access are priorities. A simpler firewall is likely a better fit for deployments without those requirements.
