Encore is a backend development platform and infrastructure SDK for teams building distributed systems in Go or TypeScript. Developers define services, APIs, databases, queues, caches, object storage, cron jobs, and secrets in application code. Encore then provides local development infrastructure, CI/CD, pull-request preview environments, observability, and automated provisioning into the customer’s AWS or Google Cloud account. Its focus suits engineering teams that want cloud infrastructure automation without maintaining separate Terraform configurations.

The plan structure starts with Starter, which includes local development with automatically provisioned infrastructure, two free development environments on Encore Cloud, one million distributed-tracing events per month, seven days of log and trace retention, CI/CD, and automated testing. Pro costs $49 per member per month and adds unlimited free development environments on the Encore platform, 20 million distributed-tracing events per month, AWS and Google Cloud deployment, preview environments per pull request, and email support. Enterprise uses custom pricing and adds custom retention, self-hosted preview environments, custom RBAC and network security, a technical account manager, and custom support SLAs. The free plan and 14-day free trial provide lower-commitment entry points.

Encore’s strongest fit is for teams that want infrastructure and application workflows in one Go-oriented system. It supports distributed tracing, metrics, logs, architecture diagrams, a service catalog, generated API documentation, and AI-agent integration through an MCP server. AWS, Google Cloud, Datadog, Grafana, GitHub, and Kubernetes are listed integrations. Teams can deploy through Git-based workflows, generate Docker images for self-hosting, and use databases, Pub/Sub, caches, object storage, cron jobs, and secrets. Choose Encore if automated provisioning, previews, and Go infrastructure tooling are priorities. Consider another option if you want a platform fee that includes cloud-provider compute, storage, and data-transfer charges, or if your team does not build in Go or TypeScript.
