EloqKV review
A strong fit for Redis workloads that need persistence, transactions, and tiered storage.

EloqKV is a distributed key-value database for developers building applications that need Redis compatibility alongside durable storage, strong consistency, and distributed transactions. Its Redis-compatible API supports Redis clients and protocols, while its hybrid design combines in-memory caching with persistent storage. Deployment options include self-hosted software through Docker, binaries, or EloqCtl, as well as EloqCloud. It is most suitable for teams that want familiar Redis integration without limiting workloads to memory-only data.
The Free plan includes up to 3 clusters, a 25 GB storage quota, and basic monitoring. The published plan structure makes EloqKV accessible for smaller deployments and evaluation environments, while its broader feature set targets applications that need more than a basic cache. Storage can use disk or object storage, and write-ahead logging provides durability. Automatic movement of colder data away from memory can help align hot-data performance with larger persistent datasets.
Its strongest technical distinction is the combination of Redis compatibility and transactional behavior. EloqKV supports ACID transactions with BEGIN, COMMIT, and ROLLBACK, including distributed transactions across nodes. Horizontal clustering, elastic scaling, and automatic failover with standby nodes extend that design for distributed deployments. Compatibility with Jedis, redis-py, go-redis, redis-cli, and the Redis Cluster SDK supports established development workflows. Choose EloqKV when Redis familiarity, persistence, clustering, and transaction semantics matter together; choose a simpler cache-focused option when those capabilities are unnecessary or when a small Free-plan footprint is enough.
EloqKV pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Redis clients and protocols support familiar application integration
- Distributed ACID transactions with BEGIN, COMMIT, and ROLLBACK
- Automatic cold-data offloading with disk or object-storage tiers
- Where it doesn't
- Free plan is limited to 3 clusters and 25 GB of storage
- Free-plan monitoring is limited to basic monitoring
- Self-hosted deployment is centered on Linux-based environments
