Elastic Observability is a paid platform for centralizing and analyzing logs, metrics, traces, application performance, infrastructure, and digital experiences. It suits teams that want log management connected to broader observability rather than a standalone log viewer. Deployments include Elastic Cloud Serverless, Elastic Cloud Hosted, and self-managed Elastic Stack environments, with web, API, and self-hosted access. Core capabilities include centralized search, filtering, visualization, live tailing, dashboards, alerts, notifications, parsing, transformation, routing, and long-term archiving.

Pricing is consumption-based. According to the vendor’s published plans, Logs Essentials starts at $0.07 per GB ingested, billed monthly, and includes ad hoc log analysis, dashboards, integrations, and alerts and notifications. Complete starts at $0.09 per GB ingested, billed monthly, and adds full-stack observability capabilities, service-level objectives, AI-assisted pipelines and parsing, machine learning, private connectivity, and IP filtering. The published $0.07 rate is an as-low-as ingest rate rather than a flat subscription price. A 14-day free trial is available, while the default retention for Elastic Cloud Serverless logs is 30 days.

Its ecosystem is a strong fit for cloud-native and distributed environments. Elastic Observability supports AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Elastic Agent, Filebeat, and Logstash, alongside application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, infrastructure monitoring, and Kubernetes monitoring. Machine-learning anomaly detection, log categorization, snapshots, and searchable snapshots extend the platform beyond basic search and collection. Choose it if your team wants logs integrated with tracing, infrastructure visibility, and alerting across multiple data sources. Choose another option if you need a free plan or prefer a flat subscription model with predictable ingestion allowances.
