Our verdict on Eight
Eight puts short video introductions and scheduled live sessions at the center of dating, for people who would rather see and hear a potential match before starting a chat. Users browse 30-second profile videos, send smiles, and enter an eight-minute in-app video call when interest is mutual. Chat becomes available only if both people opt to continue. The app is free to download and use, with optional Premium features and in-app purchases; profile videos are reviewed by Eight's team before becoming visible. It is available on iOS and Android, and includes reporting and blocking controls.
The scheduled format is the main distinction: live rooms happen twice weekly, so matching is oriented around those sessions rather than a continuously available video-date calendar. The profile review step adds a human check before videos go live, while the call-to-chat sequence gives both participants a clear point to decide whether to continue. Eight is a fit for people seeking structured, brief video dates and willing to join at scheduled times; it is less suited to those who want on-demand calls or desktop access.
According to the vendor's Portuguese-language Premium page, Premium Weekly costs €6.99 per week, Premium Monthly €14.99 per month, and Premium 3 months €29.99 per three months. All three list unlimited smiles, one Super Smile per week, and visibility into who smiled and is online. One-time purchases include Skip the queue for €1.99 and Super Smiles packs at €1.99, €7.99, and €19.99. The help page also says Premium adds longer calls, without specifying a duration. The listed pricing makes this less appealing to budget-conscious daters, especially since the queue and highlighted smiles can be purchased separately.
