EfficientIP SOLIDserver DDI is an appliance-based platform for managing DNS, DHCP and IP address infrastructure across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments. It is aimed at network, DevOps and SecOps teams that need a centralized source of truth for addresses, consistent service deployment and visibility into network resources. Its scope covers IPAM, DNS and DHCP management alongside device, VLAN, route and port administration through NetChange integration.

The platform combines policy-driven provisioning, configuration templates, automated discovery, inventory, role-based access control and audit tracking. Zero-touch provisioning and hybrid deployment support are relevant for organizations coordinating address and service changes across multiple environments. SOLIDserver also exposes REST, SOAP and OpenAPI interfaces, with webhooks and event forwarding for automation. Integrations include Terraform, Ansible, ServiceNow, OpenStack, Python and Prometheus, along with infrastructure and security platforms such as Forescout, Fortinet, Nutanix, Proxmox, Aruba ClearPass and Cisco ISE.

SOLIDserver is a strong fit when DDI is the center of network-resource provisioning and teams need policy, auditability and automation in one platform. Its combination of IPAM, DNS, DHCP, discovery and inventory gives it broader operational reach than a basic address-management tool. However, its DDI-centered design is less suited to organizations seeking a general controller for the full network. The appliance-based model may also be a consideration for teams with a different deployment preference. Pricing is handled through contact with EfficientIP rather than published plans, so buyers should evaluate the required deployment model, integrations and NetChange capabilities with the vendor.

EfficientIP SOLIDserver DDI pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Centralizes IPAM, DNS and DHCP across hybrid environments
    • Automates discovery, inventory and policy-driven provisioning
    • Connects with Terraform, Ansible, ServiceNow and security tools
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires contacting sales
    • DDI-centered scope is narrower than general network controllers
    • Appliance-based deployment may not suit every infrastructure model
