Our verdict on EF English Live
EF English Live is an online English-learning school for learners who want teacher-led instruction alongside structured self-study. Its courses cover general and business English, travel, and TOEFL or TOEIC preparation, with material for beginner through advanced levels. Personalized learning plans connect private lessons and small-group conversation classes with exercises, multimedia materials, grammar practice, and course-aligned flashcards. A 20-minute assessment test is also part of the offer, making it relevant to learners who want an assessment as well as ongoing instruction.
The mix of teacher time and independent practice is the product’s defining strength. Learners can access classes and course materials through web, iOS, and Android, and download the content of their current unit for offline study. AI-supported interactive classroom features and speech-recognition feedback add a practice option between teacher-led sessions. This is a broader learning path than an app centered only on vocabulary drills, but it is specifically focused on English rather than a range of languages. It suits dedicated learners who value scheduled teaching and a course structure; casual learners looking for light, self-directed practice may prefer a simpler app.
Pricing is personalized according to course type, number of classes, budget, and available time, so learners need to contact sales rather than compare standard published plan prices. The refund guarantee has conditions: it applies after the first 12 weeks and requires at least one teacher-led class and one self-study unit each week. That makes the commitment and weekly study rhythm important to consider before choosing a course. EF English Live is a stronger fit for learners ready to combine regular classes with self-study, including professionals and exam candidates; those seeking a free plan or clearly posted standard pricing should look elsewhere.
