Our verdict on Echo Memory
Echo Memory is a graph-based memory system for AI agents, storing entities, episodes and facts in PostgreSQL with pgvector and Apache AGE. It combines vector similarity with full-text retrieval, tracks provenance and audit history, and resolves entities through scoped nodes. Teams can connect coding assistants, custom services and other MCP-compatible agents. Its audience includes solo developers, small and mid-market teams, and enterprises that need shared or locally controlled agent memory.
The deployment choice shapes both cost and responsibility. The Self hosted plan is free and includes unlimited facts, episodes and projects, graph and retrieval capabilities, entity resolution, an audit log, MCP server, CLI, dashboard and session hooks. It also states that nothing leaves the machine and that telemetry is not collected. Hosted Cloud costs $149 per month and adds a managed database, hosted MCP endpoint, one memory across every machine, backups and a dashboard. Enterprise adds volume above 1,500,000 units or uncapped usage, organization, team and per-agent scoping, SSO, SCIM, secret and PII redaction before write, plus audit-log export and retention policy.
Its standout capability is the combination of graph facts and episodic session memory with hybrid retrieval and provenance. Episode writing uses session IDs, while the audit trail records how facts were stored and changed. Integrations include Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Claude Desktop, Windsurf and any MCP-compatible agent, with web, API and self-hosted deployment options. Choose Echo Memory when graph relationships, cross-machine memory or data residency matter. Teams seeking a fully managed service should budget for the $149 monthly Cloud plan, while organizations needing advanced identity and governance controls should evaluate the Enterprise tier. Those wanting built-in AI features rather than a memory layer may prefer another tool.
