e6 Query Engine review
A paid lakehouse query engine for high-concurrency SQL, vector search, and controlled deployment.

e6 Query Engine is a Kubernetes-native SQL and AI query engine for analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and enterprise analytics teams. It runs workloads directly against existing lakehouse storage, including S3, ADLS Gen2, and Iceberg-managed data, so teams can query data without copying or migrating it. Its scope covers complex SQL, high-concurrency dashboards, ad hoc analytics, scheduled workloads, embedded analytics, and vector search with cosine similarity.
Pricing is centered on compute consumption rather than a monthly subscription. The Pay for Compute plan costs $0.175 per vCPU-hour, meters consumed compute, scales in 1 vCPU-hour increments, and has no minimum commitment. Outcome-Based Pricing uses custom pricing, savings-based contracts, and contract terms from 6 months to 3 years. There is no free plan, so e6 fits teams that can budget for metered usage or negotiate a longer-term commercial arrangement.
The platform connects to Iceberg, Delta, and Hudi table formats and supports S3, ADLS Gen2, GCS, JDBC, ODBC, Python, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Apache Superset, Jupyter Notebook, and Databricks. Deployment can be serverless or inside a customer-managed Kubernetes cluster, including a customer VPC. Real-time query guardrails provide logging, alerts, and cancellation, while autoscaling operates in 1-vCPU increments. Federated querying across heterogeneous sources is available on request as an active-development feature. Choose e6 for controlled lakehouse SQL and high concurrency; consider another option if a free plan or mature federated querying is central to the decision.
e6 Query Engine pros and cons

- Runs SQL directly over S3, ADLS Gen2, and Iceberg-managed data
- Supports high-concurrency execution, autoscaling, and query guardrails
- Connects with JDBC, ODBC, Python, BI tools, and major table formats
- Where it doesn't
- No free plan for evaluation or ongoing use
- Usage-based pricing can require monitoring of consumed compute
- Federated querying is an active-development feature available on request
