Dynatrace Infrastructure Observability brings hosts, virtual machines, containers, networks, cloud platforms, events, and logs into one observability platform. It is aimed at IT operations, infrastructure, cloud, and platform engineering teams managing dynamic hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Automatic discovery and topology mapping provide dependency context, while monitoring spans host health, processes, filesystems, OS services, Kubernetes clusters, nodes, workloads, and network devices. The platform also supports distributed tracing, synthetic HTTP, browser, and network monitoring, plus OpenTelemetry ingestion through the OTLP API and collectors.

The published plans show three pricing levels. Foundation & Discovery costs $7 per host monthly and includes basic host health indicators, topology detection, filesystem monitoring, OS services monitoring, and log collection and correlation in context. Infrastructure Monitoring costs $29 per host monthly and adds process, disk, memory, and network analysis, custom metrics, and observability for cloud, hyperscaler, and data-center infrastructure. Full-Stack Monitoring costs $58 per 8 GiB host monthly and adds application performance monitoring, automated root-cause analysis for end-to-end transactions, code-level profiling, Kubernetes Platform Monitoring, OpenTelemetry metrics and traces, and 10 days of trace data retention. According to the vendor's pricing description, these plans operate through an annual platform commitment consumed against a usage-based rate card.

Its ecosystem fit is a major consideration for enterprise teams. Integrations include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, Nutanix Clusters, Microsoft Hyper-V Infrastructure, OpenTelemetry, and Kubernetes. Logs, metrics, traces, and events can be analyzed together, with AI-assisted problem detection, root-cause analysis, automated remediation workflows, and incident-management actions extending beyond basic dashboards. Choose Dynatrace when your team needs broad infrastructure and application coverage across complex environments. Teams seeking a free starting tier or a narrowly focused, simpler monitoring tool should look elsewhere.

Dynatrace Infrastructure Observability pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Maps hosts, processes, and dependencies across hybrid and cloud environments
    • Correlates logs, metrics, and traces for end-to-end analysis
    • Covers Kubernetes, synthetics, AI analysis, and remediation workflows
  • Where it doesn't
    • No free plan; entry pricing starts at $7 per host monthly
    • Pricing uses an annual platform commitment and usage-based rate card
    • Full-Stack Monitoring is priced per 8 GiB host rather than per host
