Our verdict on DJClaw
DJClaw is an open-source framework for building autonomous AI DJ agents. It is designed for developers and technically capable DJs who want a self-hosted desktop system that can search for and download tracks, analyze audio, select music, control two decks, and perform transitions. Its terminal DJ console and command-line controls suit users comfortable working locally rather than DJs looking for a conventional visual application.
Its standout feature is the combination of AI planning and music-aware mixing. DJClaw can select tracks by BPM, key, and energy, then control two decks through a Mixxx fork. Available transitions include crossfade, bass swap, filter sweep, echo-out, and hard cut. Audio perception supports track analysis, previews, and live listening, while persistent taste, memory, and goal files give the agent a continuing basis for its selections. Google Lyria 3 can also generate original tracks.
DJClaw fits a broad AI and developer ecosystem, with integrations for Google ADK, Gemini, Anthropic, OpenAI, LiteLLM, Mixxx, and Google Lyria 3. Live WebSocket relay streaming adds a path for distributing sessions, and the local command-line installer supports a self-hosted setup. The trade-off is technical overhead: users must provide LLM provider credentials and handle their separate usage costs, and the software is limited to macOS and Linux. Choose DJClaw for programmable, autonomous DJ experiments and custom AI music systems; choose another tool if you need Windows support, a conventional turnkey workflow, or a documented mix-export process.
