DirEqual is desktop software for comparing and synchronizing files and folders. It presents directories side by side, highlights differences in names, sizes, dates, and contents, and provides actions for copying, updating, or deleting items. The product is suited to people managing backups, external drives, network locations, and project directories. It supports macOS and has a Windows download, with AppleScript and macOS Finder Services available as integrations.

The pricing structure covers subscriptions and perpetual licenses. The Monthly Subscription costs $5 per month, while the Annual Subscription costs $15 per year; both allow installation on 3 home Macs and can be canceled anytime. The Annual Business Subscription costs $59 per year for 5 Macs in a company. Perpetual options include a $39 Single User License, a $129 Small Business License for 5 Macs, and a $499 Site License for all Macs in a company. A 14-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan.

DirEqual’s strongest area is detailed desktop comparison paired with direct synchronization controls. Users can compare text and binary files, create folder snapshots with optional checksums, apply filename-template filters and comparison options, compare multiple folder pairs, and export results to CSV. AppleScript adds an automation path for Mac workflows. The product is less suitable for teams that require three-way merging or version-control integration. Choose DirEqual for focused folder operations and low-cost licensing; choose an alternative when collaborative merge workflows or development-platform integration are central.
