Directory Opus is a Windows desktop file manager that can replace or complement Windows Explorer. It is aimed at users who need more control over file browsing, organization and repetitive file operations than a basic explorer provides. Single- or dual-pane displays, multiple folder tabs, archive browsing, FTP access, duplicate finding and configurable commands cover both everyday file work and more specialized workflows. GPSoftware supports x64 editions of Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11, while ARM is not currently supported.

Customization is the product’s defining strength. Toolbars, menus and hotkeys can be configured, and scripting extends the built-in file operations. Batch renaming can use macros, metadata and scripts, which suits photographers, administrators and other users handling groups of files with consistent naming requirements. File synchronization can work between folders, network shares, archives and FTP, while archive creation, extraction and browsing keep related tasks inside the same application. Integrations with FTP, Windows Search and Everything add further options for locating and moving files.

The licence structure is designed for paid, individual use rather than a free tier. The Single plan installs on one computer, Dual covers two computers, and Five covers five computers; each includes a free personal laptop licence and lifetime technical support. A 30-day trial is available, with an extended 60-day trial after registration. Directory Opus is a strong fit for Windows power users who value configurable workflows, scripting and file-operation depth. Users seeking a simpler file browser, a free plan or ARM support should consider a different option.
