Digital Performer is a digital audio workstation from MOTU for recording, editing, arranging, mixing and producing audio and MIDI. It is aimed at musicians, producers, composers, engineers and post-production users working on music, soundtracks, live-performance projects and other audio productions. Digital Performer 11 supports macOS and 64-bit Windows, with workflows spanning audio recording, MIDI sequencing, virtual instruments, clip triggering and control-surface integration.
Its strongest distinction is the depth of its expressive MIDI and performance features. Articulation maps support detailed MIDI performances, while MIDI Polyphonic Expression and per-note controller support are designed for instruments and controllers that communicate performance detail beyond standard note data. Multi-channel MIDI tracks add further routing flexibility. For live work, Clip and Scene triggering works with pad controllers, and Live Performance Mode supports real-time effects processing.
