Digital Performer is a digital audio workstation from MOTU for recording, editing, arranging, mixing and producing audio and MIDI. It is aimed at musicians, producers, composers, engineers and post-production users working on music, soundtracks, live-performance projects and other audio productions. Digital Performer 11 supports macOS and 64-bit Windows, with workflows spanning audio recording, MIDI sequencing, virtual instruments, clip triggering and control-surface integration.

Its strongest distinction is the depth of its expressive MIDI and performance features. Articulation maps support detailed MIDI performances, while MIDI Polyphonic Expression and per-note controller support are designed for instruments and controllers that communicate performance detail beyond standard note data. Multi-channel MIDI tracks add further routing flexibility. For live work, Clip and Scene triggering works with pad controllers, and Live Performance Mode supports real-time effects processing. Audio retrospective recording can also help capture material after a performance has taken place.

The creative toolkit extends beyond sequencing. Nanosampler 2.0 includes slicing and time stretching, giving producers a focused way to work with sampled material. The product is sold as a paid full version, with the published plan named Digital Performer 11 full version and no free plan. That structure suits buyers looking for a complete workstation rather than a free entry point or a tiered subscription choice. Choose Digital Performer if expressive MIDI, sampling, clip triggering and live effects are central to your workflow. Consider another option if you need a free plan, a different platform, or a broader choice of purchase plans.
