DevZero review
A Kubernetes cost and infrastructure optimization platform with a free plan and $5-per-CPU Pro pricing.

DevZero is a Kubernetes and AI infrastructure optimization platform for platform engineers, DevOps teams, and engineering leaders managing cloud environments. It analyzes cluster, node, and workload utilization, then provides cost visibility and optimization controls across multi-cloud Kubernetes deployments. The product supports AWS EKS, Azure AKS, Google GKE, Oracle OKE, OpenShift, and self-managed Kubernetes. Its feature set covers resource and cost monitoring, workload rightsizing, node pool autoscaling, storage optimization, network and egress monitoring, GPU infrastructure optimization, and cost-aware scheduling.
The pricing structure gives teams a way to start without a platform fee. The Free plan costs $0 per month and includes unlimited clusters, Kubernetes resource and cost monitoring, network monitoring, department cost attribution, audit logging, and multi-cloud support and governance. Pro costs $5 per CPU per month, billed monthly, and adds workload optimization with live migration, infrastructure optimization, spot instance management, GPU infrastructure optimization, forecast-driven scaling, and performance-based alerting. Enterprise adds infrastructure security scanning, enterprise SSO and SAML, data export for chargeback, custom SLAs, 180-day-plus data retention, and dedicated on-call service.
DevZero is strongest when Kubernetes cost control and operational efficiency are the priority. Live workload migration using checkpoint and restore, persistent volume claim optimization, vulnerability and compliance scanning, and integrations with AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing Export, and Azure Cost Management give it a broad infrastructure-management scope. It also includes AI features and an inference optimization beta. However, its current direction is Kubernetes and AI infrastructure optimization rather than creating and using cloud development environments. Teams seeking workspace configuration, source-control integrations, prebuilds, persistent development-workspace storage, GPU-backed development workspaces, or JetBrains support should choose a product centered on those workflows instead.
DevZero pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Free plan includes unlimited clusters and multi-cloud governance
- Rightsizes workloads, node pools, storage, and GPU infrastructure
- Supports EKS, AKS, GKE, OKE, OpenShift, and self-managed Kubernetes
- Where it doesn't
- Its current focus is infrastructure optimization, not development workspaces
- Pro pricing is based on CPU count, which may complicate budgeting
- Advanced security, SSO, SLAs, and on-call service require Enterprise
