Delphix Data Tokenization review
Enterprise tokenization with reversible jobs, discovery, audit logs, and broad connectors.

Delphix Data Tokenization is a capability within Perforce Delphix’s data compliance and masking platform. It replaces sensitive string values with tokens that can later be reversed, supporting workflows such as sharing data for external analysis and re-identifying returned results. Its enterprise focus and connectors across databases, mainframes, and files suit organizations handling sensitive data in varied systems.
Tokenization and re-identification jobs use configurable algorithms and initialization vectors. The documented AES-128 CBC-CTS option produces Base64-encoded output, and a fallback option handles values when token output exceeds field length. The documented token output can be longer than the input, so teams that require format-preserving tokenization should consider an alternative. The platform also offers sensitive-data discovery and profiling, plus audit logs for tokenization and re-identification objects and user actions.
Connectors cover DB2 LUW, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, SAP ASE, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, DB2 Z/OS, DB2 iSeries, Salesforce, CockroachDB, SAP HANA, and fixed-width, delimited, and XML files. Deployment is described as on-premises, with web and self-hosted platforms also listed. Perforce’s published sales model is contact sales rather than public list pricing. Support channels include phone, tickets, community, and documentation, with 24/7 support. Choose Delphix when reversible tokenization, discovery, and broad system coverage matter; teams needing format-preserving output or transparent self-service pricing should look elsewhere.
Delphix Data Tokenization pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Re-identifies tokenized string values through dedicated jobs
- Connectors span databases, mainframes, and file formats
- Discovery, profiling, and audit logs support compliance workflows
- Where it doesn't
- Output can be longer than the input, so format preservation is not verified
- On-premises deployment may not suit teams seeking a cloud-only service
- Quote-based pricing requires a sales conversation
