Dell APEX File Storage for Public Cloud brings the PowerScale OneFS distributed file system to public-cloud environments. It is designed for organizations that need enterprise file services across AWS and Azure, including AI and analytics workloads, cloud bursting, disaster recovery, ransomware protection, and migration from on-premises PowerScale environments. Customer-managed deployments are available on AWS and Azure, alongside a Dell-managed Azure-native option. Access is provided through NFS, SMB, HDFS, and S3, giving teams a broad protocol set for file and object-oriented workloads.

Its strongest case is the depth of its storage and data-protection feature set. SyncIQ supports replication, while SmartConnect provides client load balancing and failover. SmartQuotas enables thin provisioning and dynamic capacity scaling, and the published capabilities also include snapshots for rapid restoration, CloudPools tiering for inactive data, and NDMP-based backup support. The scaling model is auto scaling. These functions make the offering a fit for teams consolidating file services, extending PowerScale into public cloud, or maintaining copies of data for recovery and continuity.

Cloud fit is centered on AWS, Azure, and Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage. The AWS offering supports one availability zone, which matters when planning resilience and placement. Pricing is contact-sales, so organizations comparing cloud storage costs will need a direct Dell engagement rather than a public plan comparison. Choose this product when PowerScale compatibility, multi-protocol access, replication, and enterprise data services are priorities. Organizations seeking a simpler storage service, transparent self-service pricing, or support across a broader set of cloud providers should consider alternatives with those characteristics.
