Our verdict on Dekree
Dekree is a hosted compliance platform for Michigan local governments managing public meetings and records obligations. Its Open Meetings product accepts direct audio uploads and meeting videos from YouTube or Vimeo, then provides transcription, agenda-linked chapters, transcript search, review-before-publish controls, and publishing to an existing government website. It is aimed at municipal clerks, supervisors, administrators, and public-sector teams that need a structured way to manage recordings, minutes, agendas, notices, and public access.
Pricing is organized by product and organization population, with annual billing. Dekree’s overall paid entry point is $69 per month, while meeting recording belongs to Open Meetings, whose listed Starter tier is $199 per month. Open Meetings Standard and Enterprise are each listed at $599 and $999 per month. The broader product lineup also includes FOIA plans at $199, $599, and $999 per month, plus Records & Retention plans at $99 and $299 per month. This structure suits organizations seeking a broader compliance platform, but teams interested only in general-purpose meeting capture may find the government-specific pricing difficult to justify.
The standout capability is the connection between meeting content and public publishing. Agenda-linked chapters can be renamed, retimed, added, or deleted; private bookmarks support internal review; and speaker-diarized transcripts can support drafted minutes. Searchable transcripts across meetings, YouTube and Vimeo ingestion, and website embedding extend the workflow beyond recording alone. Dekree is a strong fit for government teams publishing public meetings and maintaining searchable archives. Organizations that need basic recording or conferencing without agendas, records workflows, or public-sector publishing should choose a narrower meeting tool instead.
