Our verdict on DecayCore
DecayCore is a locally run room-correction application for listeners and small audio projects that need multichannel FIR processing. It guides acoustic measurement through a calibrated microphone input, captures RT60 decay and harmonic-distortion data, and generates convolution filters through automatic or manual workflows. The interface runs locally in a browser without a cloud service, making it suited to desktop-based DSP setups rather than hosted production environments.
Its standout depth is filter and room-response control. Automatic target optimization ranks candidates, while Basic and Advanced manual filtering workflows support linear-, minimum-, mixed- and asymmetric-phase FIR filters. Temporal Decay Control, phase correction and Bass Integration address both speaker response and the relationship between main speakers and subwoofers. Existing REW text files and impulse-response WAV files can be imported, which gives users a path to work from prior measurements as well as new guided captures.
The published distribution is free for non-commercial use. Exports include WAV files and configurations for CamillaDSP, Roon, Equalizer APO, MiniDSP and other FIR-capable engines, so DecayCore fits systems that already rely on those playback or convolution tools. It runs on Windows and Linux, with desktop deployment and email and documentation support. Choose it if you want a free, locally operated environment for experimenting with multichannel FIR correction, bass integration and phase workflows. Consider another option if commercial use, macOS measurement, cloud operation or AI-assisted features are requirements.
