A centralized, open-source option for backup operations across many database engines.

DBAegis is a self-hosted database resilience platform for DBAs, SREs, infrastructure teams, and platform engineers. It centralizes backup management, scheduling, backup history, storage destinations, restore workflows, recovery validation, notifications, audit evidence, reporting, and multi-database operations. The platform is available through web and API interfaces, with a free Community edition and paid Professional and Enterprise editions.
Its main strength is breadth combined with recovery-focused controls. The published database coverage includes PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, Valkey, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle, Cassandra, Neo4j, CouchDB, Couchbase, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, and Firestore. DBAegis also supports point-in-time recovery, restore verification, local and cloud backup destinations, and self-backup of the control plane. Storage integrations include AWS S3, Azure Blob, and Google Cloud Storage, while LDAP and Active Directory support help align access management with existing environments.
The edition structure is important when evaluating fit. Community supports local logical workflows for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB, while Professional and Enterprise add broader database coverage, cloud storage, access controls, reporting, notifications, and production-oriented controls. RBAC, MFA, audit events, recovery drills, and restore evidence make DBAegis suited to teams that need documented recovery operations across multiple systems. It is less suitable for organizations seeking a fully managed service or a simple backup utility limited to one database engine. Teams choosing it should also match their database, backup mode, deployment, and support requirements to the vendor's support matrix.
